Hot for Slayer
Who said romance is dead?
This story is interesting because it strikes a balance between being entertaining and allowing the reader to predict exactly what will happen next. The story itself is nothing extraordinary, but its narrative is compelling enough to place its two protagonists in the spotlight, allowing them to develop their characters and the plot in a very engaging way.
The idea of memory loss is a concept I don't usually get involved with because, when I find it in a story, it's never well executed. However, in this case, I think it works well enough to move the plot forward and make the tension believable. And this is where Ali Hazelwood shines, because, although it is a short story, what is found within this story serves as a first step for what happens in the rest of the stories in the collection.
A romantic relationship between a vampire and a vampire hunter that borders on obsession is nothing out of the ordinary or something that has never been seen or read before, but in this case, Ali creates a story that helps readers get into the mood for the Halloween season.
